New Year Comes With New Equipment at Crown Linen!

One of the ways we ensure Crown Linen is always on the forefront of customer service and quality is through equipment upgrades. While we’ve added several pieces over the past few years, 2020 is a big year.

Our goal has been to be the premier hospitality linen servicer in the St Louis Metro area. In July of 2019, discussions started for purchasing a new ironer line for the Columbia, IL facility. Once the decision was made and all the details were worked out, Jensen got started on the order. In November of 2019, three shipping containers left from Denmark headed to the US. On December 5, four semi-trucks arrived at our Columbia, IL facility to unload our new Jensen Self Contained Ironer, a Logic Plus feeder, Viking separator, and a Katana folder.

Everything sat on pallets until January 4, 2020 when the install could begin. Our dedicated maintenance team, with some outside assistance, moved one of the existing ironers to make room for the new Jensen.

The next step was for professional machinery movers, and an install crew from Jensen to arrive. On January 7 the crews arrived and began working diligently to get the new equipment into place.

Frank Gagne, Plant Manager, explained “Crown has invested in new technologies over the past few years that allow our employees to focus on quality over quantity. From the program that auto calculates pieces produced to new small piece folders, we are continuously looking for ways to help our employees create a better product for our customers. Our Sales Team better get on their game because we will blow through some hotel linen in unbelievable time!”

After a pointed side glance and chuckle from Jim Vogel, Vice President of Customer Relations, Jim responds, “Our sales team is ready, hold on tight everybody!” The good-natured competition drives both processes to be better.

This next step in innovation is scheduled to be up and running on Monday, January 13, completing a more than six-month process.

“The plan is to give ourselves and our employees time to adjust to all the new features that come with this state-of-the-art machine. After that we plan on hosting several open house of sorts to allow our current and potential customers to see our facility and meet our people. We want everyone to see the investments we are making and how beneficial this level of processing technology can be to their daily operations,” explained Tim Williams, Owner and CEO.

See below for time lapse videos of the process so far. If you can’t wait for the open house, call 800 733-8090 to schedule a tour today and learn how Crown’s Proven Process and 129 years of experience can assist you!
