Our History
Throughout the last century, we have thrived in a highly competitive market. With five generations of the Williams family at its helm, the company is one of the oldest family-owned and operated businesses in the Midwest. Throughout the years, each generation of Williams family members have adapted the company’s strategy to the changing times to enable Crown to continue to provide our customers with the products and services they need for their business.
In October of 1891, at 107 E Promenade St. in Mexico, Missouri, Mexico Steam Laundry (renamed Crown Linen Service the following year) was born. The vast majority of the business at that time consisted of men’s starched shirts and detachable collars and cuffs. In the years that followed, the company expanded the business, adding newer and more productive technology as it became available.
With a strict adherence to the business philosophy of quality products and quality service, the company has evolved through a variety of market strategies and product lines to arrive at today’s Crown Linen Service. Today, the company provides rental textiles to all types of businesses in central and eastern Missouri as well as western and southern Illinois.
While each generation has adjusted the business strategy to suit the customer needs of the time, a commitment to service and the quality of our products has remained constant.
“My grandfather, Turner Williams, said you must be thinking of how you can improve on what you are doing every day. He always stressed a business philosophy of high quality, in all areas of our business. We still try to live up to that philosophy everyday” said current company president, Tim Williams.
